What Our Parents and Students Have to Say About US...

“What Martial Arts has Done for Me”

My name is Melissa, and I grew up in a home that had a lot of love at times, but also had a lot of abuse as well. The abuse was physical, mental, and verbal.

You may ask why I am telling you this. It is not for sympathy, nor empathy. I wouldn’t want anyone to know what its like, even though it happens to many people.

I put my daughter in Martial Arts a year ago. She wanted to join and I knew it would give her a voice and she could protect herself from such things. Little did I know I to would start classes 6 months later.

I started to gain physical strength which is why I wanted to start. But I also gained more than I ever hoped for. In 5 months I have gained more confidence, more organization skills, and inner peace than any Doctor could have ever given me.

My spirit was damaged but never broken, for some reason I survived when others have fallen.
Now, at age 31 I am finally healing on the inside because of Martial Arts. My anxiety disorder is much more under control because I have an outlet, to let go of negative anxiety, with something very positive to take it’s place.

I am grateful that I found Martial Arts USA for my daughter and for Me. The instructors are awesome, and the program is great.

I just got my yellow belt, and I know the road to Black Belt is a long one, but very rewarding. I do not want a Black Belt so I can show off, I want it so I have something to show, that I finished what I started. Its for me. I have had many dreams and most have been left by the wayside, but not this time my spirit is stronger than ever and I will achieve my Goal.

I have Martial Arts USA to thank for that inspiration.

Sincerely from the Heart
Melissa Sexton

“Martial Arts USA have the gift of teaching and encouraging others.”

“I like the instructors! All of you have the gift of teaching and encouraging others. I like all the old friends I have bumped into and all the new friends that I have made. I love the workouts! I feel so much better about myself, and my 18 year old son is so proud of me, he brags to all his friends about how I am taking Karate. I have more definition in my arms and leg muscles, feeling stronger everyday. I’m in college and I get A’s and I have more energy at work.

“Martial Arts has done wonders for my child.”

“He has done great. He is coordinated and confident. I asked him how he got so good. He said “Mr. Cvitak said just say in your head that you can do it, and you can do it”. I know that your messages are getting to him. I appreciate that greatly.

“I have more self-confidence than ever!”

To Whom It May Concern:When our son Jacob was in 2nd grade, we had some concerns. First, he was not staying in his seat in class. Its not that he was disruptive, but he found the toys at the back of the room more interesting than listening to the teacher. Second, he was naturally shy and while this makes him a sweet boy, we worried how it might affect his future. Third, he was smaller than the other boys in his class and we worried about him being picked on because of his height and shyness. It seemed to us that his being shorter, wearing glasses, and having red hair would be a bully magnet. It was this last item that lead us to Martial Arts USA. We lived nearby and had seen the sign. We stopped in and talked. We were surprised that while they talked about self-defense, they also talked about self-esteem and focus. All three things were items we wanted to bolster in our son. Jacob has been in martial arts over a year now and he has grown so much. Not physically as he is still on the small side, but in confidence, focus, and discipline. "Yes sir" and "Yes mama" just roll off his tongue now. His focus has improved greatly and he zipped through 3rd grade without a hitch. The amount of confidence he has gained is impressive. When he first started at Martial Arts USA he would just mouth the tenets. Now he shouts them out. This has carried over to other areas. In baseball, we hear him call out "two outs, play at second!" We look at each other and marvel that he is our "quiet one". Jacob now has set earning a black belt as his goal and we couldn't be happier to do what we can to help him reach it .Mr. C., Mr. J., and the rest of the Martial Arts USA staff have helped our son unlock the potential inside him. They are also providing him with valuable life lessons and self defense skills he will be able to utilize all his life. We are extremely pleased.

“Martial Arts has done wonders for my child.”

I wanted to personally thank you and Mr. J for all the wonderful work you're doing. Carson has benefited in so many ways, that I can only hope he continues to develop into the fine young man he is becoming, thanks to a lot of your efforts. Please advise on the above and thanks again

We decided to enroll them because it had peaked their interest and we were able to see some progress just within a very short amount of time. It’s something that my child had developed a commitment to.You guys had homework assignments and things and one of my daughters told me I Love You openly, although she expressed it physically she never would say that and she blossomed from that. And I think that Jenny started to get a little more confidence and she was highly anxious and early on I started to see that dwindle and she got more confidence through here.My youngest daughter has improved her focus and I’ve seen the lessons where Mr. Cvitak has pushed it very strongly. Jenny, she’s got that Black Belt Club attitude so she’s committed and I think that the focus has been a lot of that. I think that you guys have made it fun for them and its not intimidating and many positive rewards like the student of the month club. This is the only place I’ve ever come, the one thing I do like is the attitude that Mr. J and Mr. C have with the kids and not threaten and the kids get to have fun but they are expected to perform at a high level at the same time, they don’t feel intimidated to do that. Like the little talk time with the kids about cleaning their room and being good citizens.

I thought that would help increase confidence and flexibility, give them a goal to set and reach which would increase confidence over time. I think that all 3 of my children have accomplished some self-confidence, self-discipline and some ability to set a goal and reach it, a lot more focus and a lot more courteous to one another and I think accomplished a lot of goals. I like the way my children love it, the way they react to the environment I love the fact that they feel nurtured and cared about and they’re also getting the ability to go on their on with some confidence.

“He had a really big problem with his attitude”

Our son had a really, really big problem actually his attitude was really rough and you guys have change that completely around he is a lot more helpful his attitude as being positive is a lot more positive were before he was really negative about something he didn’t want to do he just didn’t do, now thing he don’t want to do he will do it but maybe give a little fuse about it but he will do it. Self-Discipline, Attitude controlled his temper.

“…respect for authority, honor and integrity…”

We wanted our grandson Luke to get into the idea of respect for authority, for honor and integrity and we like the way you stress the safety of karate and mainly the focus on what you’re trying to do. In his life it has helped him to focus on things and he has used the rule. And I like that.

So far we have seen in Luke a lot better to pay attention to things thing that he suppose to be doing that focus is really good and he has not show any aggressiveness which was a though and when I have seen how you teach why I understand he is doing exactly  what is taught.  I really do appreciate that part of the program.  I like the way the you stress, when you and Mr. Cvitak get together in a little group talk about safety with the kids, and safety in terms of this crazy fragmented society that we’re out in.  And you talk about things like that and they are important.  Many times parents and grandparents take it for granted, when it comes from you it means a lot more to those children then when it comes from grandpa, mom and dad, it weighs us out.  But they are always talking about something you’ve taught them.  And I just love it.

We’d originally talked about it before, but actually you guys sent out a letter to Horace Mann school about one of their trail periods and Sam wanted to do it and he really looked it.  His behavior has changed a little bit, he more helpful around the house with his chores and stuff like that so it’s been a big benefit to us.

“I have more confidence…and it’s a great workout.”

Alex wasn’t jumping and his motor skills wasn’t really good so his doctor asked me if I’ve thought about a martial arts program.  So I said Ya.  I have but not for that and so I did and so he jumps well along with other things and I come to watch of course and I thought, I smoke and I wanted to quit and this would be a really good workout so I tried it and it’s been about 2 years and I haven’t smoked, not gained any weight and I feel good.  I quit smoking, started feeling good, more confidence, just really good.  I like the trainers, the teachers, the people everybody is upbeat and it’s a great atmosphere.

“It’s really good for her focus, attention and self-confidence…”

I wanted her to have a little more self-confidence, feel more self-assured and not be intimidated by aggression or other kids.

I try to let my daughter try a lot of different things and this is the only thing that she has asked to do because it’s really good for her focus and attention, it’s been good for her self confidence, she’s improved her coordination when she started.  She was not as coordinated as she should be and she is ahead of where she normally is.  She has improved a lot and her concentration and improved.

I like the instructors, they are extraordinary, one of which is my former student the other is good person too.  They have a good way with kids, kids love them.  It’s the biggest thing, people here.  Your flexible, willing to work and I’ve had times where I’ve needed help for her to make stuff up and you’ve been real cooperative

“I like the way they build self-esteem…”

He had more respect for us at home, his teachers at school and he did things the first he was asked.  He has fulfilled goals by getting belts, he has felt more accomplished in himself each step he has taken in getting a new belt he has felt prouder in himself.

What I specifically like about Martial Arts USA is how they interact with the kids and the way they build self-esteem in the kids, being able to go out at school and use that.

“Martial Arts USA has greatly improved their focusing ability.”

I have two boys enrolled here, the older boy had previously attended a birthday party and a good friend was very involved with this school and so he really wanted to join and try TaeKwonDo and my middle son I wanted it for him mostly for his focus, he is a little high strung so he needs a little bit of discipline and concentration, be able to sit a periods of time like when he was at school.

Martial Arts USA has greatly improved their focusing ability, especially with Landon, and Colin has much improved his physical fitness, he is more mannerly, they tend to take what the instructors teach them here home as far as being responsible for their own belongs, their room things they like to work on now and then

I love everything.  The instructors are great, kids have the greatest respect for them they are great adult figures I their life as far as teaching life skills, their defense, their focus, just overall I think its really good skills that they are learning.  I would absolutely recommend Martial Arts USA

“It encompasses all aspects of your life in terms of discipline…”

Josh has gained strength, he enjoys athletic sports and to get him self-esteem.  Its helped him to practice his skills that he had difficulty before as in balance, coordination, he’s more willing to try new things, try different skills that he’s learned here, he’s develop a desire to carry on and he feels a lot more self confidence.

Martial Arts USA has a positive message, it encompasses all aspect of your life in terms of discipline, fitness and all the creeds and statements that are so positive, its very beneficial to him as a person as well as his sport.

“His teacher says tells us he’s the best kid in class and he really treats them with a lot of respect…”

We wanted him to do an activity, he expressed an interest in it to begin with.  He was more interested in doing something on his own than a team type sport, so we came to this and watched a class and thought it looked like fun.

Master Cvitak gives more individual attention, its not so much for the go, win-win-win kind of thing.  It more individual attention.  It not just about the sport of TaeKwondo but it about his behavior in school and treating his friends with respect, avoid getting into fights.  That sort of thing helped him a lot.

He’s done a lot better in school.  His teacher says tells us he’s the best kid in class and he really treats them with a lot of respect, treats his classmates with a lot of respect, takes his school work real seriously, he knows that he has to do well in school to do well here to advance here he has to do well in school, that’s helped in him a lot.

He loves you guys, he really wants to impress you all, make you happy.  You guys are great!

er">“I like the values you teach, not just the physical aspect…”

Originally we enrolled him to give him a sense of purpose, having something to fell really good about himself.

I think he starting to see that once he sets his mind to a goal that he can accomplish it.  Sometimes he may feel like he doesn’t want to but he’s kept at it and continuing at it.  Keeping at something that’s important to you.

I like this program because of the values that you teach, its not just about the physical aspect but about the martial arts aspect of it as well.  They come away with a sense that they are important and that they are cared about.  We are glad you are here.

We like the professionalism of the classes.”

One of the main things we wanted from joining martial arts was his self-confidence needed improving, and this has helped him quit a bit.

“…it has taught me to set goals, accomplish things…”

I had a bad temper so I decided that I needed to do something about it so I finally joined Martial Arts USA.  Its actually worked out a lot better than I thought it would,  It took my temper right away.  I learned how to control it too.

It taught me a lot of ways to deal with things, taught me how to set goals, accomplish things, keep going, let nothing stop me, keep determined and stay with it.

It fun.  Its keeps me going

“I’m more respectful and a lot more organized and my parents really appreciate that”

I believed it would help me do better in school and help me be more respectful to everybody.  I really wanted to do it and it was something that looked fun.

I have accomplished getting my Black Belt so that was awesome.  I am way better in P.E., I’m more respectful and a lot more organized and my parents really appreciate that, and I’m helping around the house more.

I like the people, the people are just really nice, everything is really friendly and were just good friends.

It looked fun and I needed to get in shape and a friend brought me here.

I have improved in my personality, I have been nicer, more grateful, more wiling to help around the house, and other places.

It has allowed me to know what teaching children and people how the martial arts can help them, let them know what respect means.

“…its helping him improve on doing his daily chores without having to be told over and over again.”

What actually got us interested is when our son Kyle went to your after school program and when we saw him at the graduation, we knew what it was all about.  We enrolled him, enrolled me, and that’s where we really got interested in it.

One of the things when I got started was learning some self defense, learning a good exercise program and really just building up strength and stamina.  It’s really been great, I love it.

Kyle just turned 7 so there is a lot of things that he needs to work on but its helping him improve on doing his daily chores without having to be told over and over again.  Self-disincline, doing the things he needs to do when he is supposed to do it, I mean just overall, everything you teach.

Its helping me learn the martial arts, plus being a part of the Black Belt Club I get to learn some extra stuff too.  I just really like the overall program, its helping me get the exercise the muscle strength, the stamina that I need especially at my age.

“He has some issue with behavior and now they are under control…”

My daughter is a Black Belt, she’s been in it for about 3 years, my son has been doing it for 2 years, I thought I could never spar, I can’t do those things, and one day I had a crazy idea and I said, “I can do this” and I’ve been doing it for 10 months.  I’m much, much more physically fit; I can carry 3 bags of grocery in at one time now.  I’ve got a lot more toned and I \feel a lot better about myself.  Kyle was so thrilled when I did it; it made him very proud that I started.

Kyle has done tremendously well.  He has some issue with behavior and now they are under control, his grades are better, he has a lot more confidence and a lot more physically fit.

Laura is a different person you can ask Mr. C, she was in Mrs. Cvitak science class and never volunteer never talked quit as a mouse; and she has tons of confidence now.

We like specifically about Marital Arts USA are the people; the work outs are good but the people are just really great.

“My self-confidence has been pushed to a whole anther level I feel like I can do if I put my mind to and physically capable to do also.”

I was trying to find something that I really like. I hadn’t found anything that I was really good at that I desired. Then I looked at this (Martial Arts) and I loved it and succeeded at it very well so I keep trying it and I just love it now.

I like the thrill that they give you and the push they give you to exceed your limits. To go beyond on what you thought you could and that it basically pushes you.

“…it’s also improved my confidence with regards to my focus, my concentration how I approach people each day…”

I have been teaching for Nineteen years and having a very successful carrier I was still stress about what I was doing each year I wanted to find a way to control the stress that is originally why I came in.  What I found was it wasn’t necessarily the stress control that had to have although that has been a benefit. I think the confidence the self-confidence that surprised me the classes have given me confidence the self-assurance and the stress control that I wanted; it’s also improved my confidence with regards to my focus, my concentration how I approach people each day, and how I deal with situation that would normally would have been stressful.  It has been a great experience for me.

Martial Arts USA challenge me every day even though the cycles that we go through I know what the goals and objective are every single day is a challenge I like that because being presented with challenges people learn to deal with those outside of class in life. So that has been a great a great benefit to me.  Also the comradely the team work something I believe in something that try to teach to my own students that not wanting to be an individual through out life you have got to be able to work with other people through out life to accomplish your objective goals.

I would recommend Marital Arts USA for all the reasons that I have already stated but also the simple fact that I think it provide an overall good feeling. When you are searching for stress control for goal setting for the ability to be more focused for the team work you also have the friendship which you find from mentorship which I feel is extremely important for every no matter their age happens to be so along with the physical aspects very healthy way to train the work out provide some surprising benefits to someone that is already in pretty good shape. Which I have found out that I have been running for quit some time while I was on vacation I decide to run a 2 mile route each morning and having not run since I started this course I have ran better than I have done before so that was a wonderful surprise.

”I have improved in some self-discipline issues, make sure I work on things and get them done on time.”

I wanted to have something to get a chance to exercise, and my wife was already in it so it was an opportunity to do it with her and we both enjoy it.  To work out frustrations.  I have improved in some self-discipline issues, make sure I work on things and get them done on time.

I love the enjoyment of being here, meeting a lot of new people but also to accomplish the same goals, in exercise and in life.  And to have the ability to do something with my life on practically on a daily basis which is something that’s enjoyable.

“It’s amazing!  She has changed, especially in her self confidence.”

She has never been athletically inclined and I know that sports is very important for team building along with confidence building and things like that.  She’s not very good at anything so she was talking doing something in the martial arts.  And so we tried this because I thought it would help her in becoming a lot better person, more well rounded.

Its amazing!  She has just changed, especially in the self confidence area.  When kids would line up in line, they would get in front of her and she would just walk to the end of the line, now she has learned to hold her own in a good way.  At home, she demonstrates her Black Belt attitude at home and in school, she’s always thinking about those things.  She is more persevered, a lot more now, she can achieve her goals.

I have to admit, the instructors are wonderful with the kids, making them feel good about themselves, happy to be here, making the kids feel great.  I mean just overall you guys are wonderful,  She has achieved so much!

“Carson has committed a 110% since being in your program, his confidence level has sky-rocketed…”

My wife and I felt that Carson was one of those individuals that was lacking in self-esteem and confidence, it wasn’t that he was not playing with other kids or anything, he needed something a little more disciplined, of course we have other children and he’s stuck in there as the middle child, we had a problem with so we thought it would be something different that we would try.

Carson has committed a 110% since being in your program, his confidence level has sky-rocketed, his coordination is great for other things we’ve noticed now that he is doing other sports and things, he seems to have more balanced, accomplished a few things, he’s even got better on self-discipline, cleaning up his room, saying yes sir which was a plus.  So its been a lot of positive things we seen.

I myself like the competitiveness and actually being around other children and being able to hone in on the skills that he is learning about his self-control and self-esteem, and I think that he’s one of those kids that didn’t want to get in the mix of soccer, did not want to run over to the basketball, he’s getting where he’s coming out of his shell.  I like the fact that he is around other children.  He’s getting to interact to hone in on some of those skills.

“School work is doing much better. “

I enrolled him into Martial Arts USA because he needed focus, and he needed structure in his life.  To help him focus in on what he needed to do.

He reads now, very often, we exercise, as a matter of fact he used to not walk tow miles with us without going, “I’m so tired”.  But now he can go and go and go, way ahead of us.   School work is doing much better.  And if we have a problem with school work in an area we would sit down with him and work it out.

The family atmosphere is great, the way we can come to you’ all with problems, and it’s worked out in no time flat.

The individualized programs are wonderful,  if you have problems in certain areas you all help, just all the values that you teach, the value minds, for example the leadership, goal setting, self-discipline, that is huge.  Responsibility, hygiene, for boys it’s a must.

“He’s become much better in school, with his teachers it reinforces the values with the values that we give him at home.”

We heard from a neighbor how she grew up in the martial arts and how good it was for her self-esteem and her mental and physical growth.  Our son loves it for one, he would even miss it even if were on vacation.  He’s become much better in school, with his teachers it reinforces the values with the values that we give him at home.

It’s a great program physically and mentally for the attitude our son has now has improved immensely, physically he is interested in improving his stamina and strength, and mentally also.

My wife and I went around a couple of other schools before we came here, extremely happy with the program that you have here, Jeff Cvitak and Leslie Jordan.  I would recommend his Martial Arts USA program from what we’ve seen in other programs and what’s its done for our son so far.

“I think it’s a really great family atmosphere and I think the energy level is great…”

I think it’s a really great family atmosphere and I think the energy level is great, and I think that helps really motivate the students and helps them achieve goals.

I just recently achieved my 3rd degree Black Belt which I have been working on for years, and on top of that I have gotten back into shape, lost a lot of weight and I feel good about myself, as well as sleeping better at night.

“…he constantly says yes sir, yes ma’am, holding open the door…”

Because he’s had a really hard time getting into other sports and I knew that this could instill self-discipline in his life and is something that he could get really excited about and build some self0confidence

I could tell that it does help with self-confidence and he is much more polite, he constantly says yes sir, yes ma’am, holding open the door and I can just tell that he just a lot different in just the 4 weeks he’s been here.

Mr. C spends a lot of time not just teaching the martial arts but teaching life lessons and things that he can use at home, in life and at school.  So it’s not just about kicking, swing, hitting, it’s a lot more than that.
